The Expiation Paintings – Reception Sat Jan 19 – 6-8pm

Here’s a preview of the Expiation Paintings — this is the series I worked on in 2012 (among other things). It will be on view in San Diego starting this Saturday 1/19, through 2/28. It’s an intense series of paintings reflecting my process of going from part-time artist/full-time corporate employee to full-time artist. These paintings are not to everyone’s taste but this type of work is an important form of expression for me.

  1. Your paintings are very bold and rich. I hope you sell out your show. I especially like Two Worlds Collide, His Confused Heart, and Not Black and White.

    • Hi Joanna, Thanks! I feel nervous about this show. A friend of mine and I call this work “guts on canvas”. In many ways this type of work which is essentially part of my Emotion series is my most personal. I appreciate your encouragement. – j
